Aurory Guide: Tips and Tricks for Navigating the Fascinating World of Nefties

Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey into the dynamic worlds of Antik and Tokané, where the fascinating universe of JRPGs comes to life in Aurory.

With a visually stunning art style and turn-based gameplay driven by the mystical Nefties, Aurory sets a new standard for the genre, filling a void that has been long overdue.

Aurory, the innovative JRPG game on Solana that has taken the Web3 gaming world by storm, is perfect for those who are short on time but crave strategic gameplay. And the best part? It’s free-to-play, allowing gamers of all backgrounds to experience the thrill of the game. But for those who want to take things to the next level, Aurory offers an exciting option of owning Nefties, the creatures that inhabit the game, as NFTs, complete with their own unique and variable stats.

Once you’re in the game, prepare to be transported to a randomized map with four different types of tiles: Hype, Bumper, Wall, and Normal. Hype tiles give Nefties a boost of 1-2 Hype, depending on the map. Bumper tiles launch Nefties in the direction they face, making for an explosive entrance onto the battlefield. Wall tiles serve as impenetrable barriers that add a layer of strategic gameplay, allowing only select Nefties to bypass them. Normal tiles, on the other hand, have no special effects and can be used by any Nefty.

As time progresses, the playable area gradually decreases, marked by ominous red lines appearing on the tiles. Make sure to plan your moves carefully, as standing on these tiles at the end of a turn will cause significant damage to your Nefty.

With all these exciting features and gameplay mechanics, Aurory promises to be an epic journey through the mystical realms of Antik and Tokané.

Starting Position

Gather round, fellow gamers, for we are about to embark on an adventure into the exciting world of Nefties, the valiant warriors of Aurory.

These powerful beings are equipped with six essential stats – Health Points (HP), Attack (ATK), Initiative (INI), Defense (DEF), Ether Attack (EATK), and Ether Defense (EDEF) – that determine their might in battle. But fear not, for even the free-to-play Nefties pack a punch, boasting a 40% stat rate that provides ample opportunity to climb the leaderboard. In fact, nearly 40% of the top 100 leaders rely solely on these gratis Nefties.

Come along with us on this comprehensive journey through the world of Aurory and discover the unique abilities of each Nefty, and how their stats can influence their performance. Along the way, we’ll explore different combinations of Nefties and develop strategies to suit your individual gameplay style.

As of now, there are nine formidable Nefties that grace the field, each with a diverse set of abilities. However, executing these moves come at a cost, as Hype points are essential to their execution. Hype points can be earned by standing on Hype tiles or through ally and enemy attacks. Basic attacks grant 1 point, special abilities award 2, and ultimate abilities furnish 3.

Get ready to unleash the power of Nefties!

First on the list is the ferocious Dinobit, a tank with an enormous HP pool. Thanks to its passive ability, Dinobit can easily push opponents one tile forward, while its special abilities – Stomp and Throwback – can stun and hurl enemies back, respectively. Meanwhile, No Escape keeps foes at bay and Bulldozer charges in a straight line, dealing damage to any unlucky Nefty in its path. In battle, Dinobit is a force to be reckoned with, relying on its highly effective Stomp ability to take down foes and No Escape to keep them close.

Next up, we have Axobubble, a ranged Nefty that specializes in pushing enemies away. Its passive ability can push other Nefties one tile away, while its Pressure Bomb is a more potent version of the attack, pushing foes two tiles away and slightly stunning them. Defensive Dome is a purely defensive move that protects any Nefties within its range from harm. Axobubble’s unique ability, Fate Swap, allows it to swap its HP and hype with another Nefty, but it comes at a high cost. Finally, Axobubble’s ultimate ability, Bubble Out, teleports every Nefty within a 3×3 range to a designated spot. In most battles, Axobubble relies on Pressure Bomb or Defensive Dome for strategic value, while Fate Swap is primarily used in 1v1 situations.

Introducing BiteBit, the feline fighter that can swiftly stack up basic attacks using its passive ability. With Backline Drop as its first special move, BiteBit gracefully hops over obstacles and pounces on unsuspecting foes from behind, leaving them stunned. As a defensive measure, BiteBit employs Clash Stance, which lets it counterattack physical strikes. Its third move, Life Drain, allows BiteBit to steal health from its opponents and replenish its own. BiteBit’s ultimate move, Bouncing Claws, unleashes a flurry of strikes on multiple foes, dealing substantial damage. In most battles, BiteBit relies on Backline Drop and Bouncing Claws, as they quickly stack its basic attack and can defeat opponents in a flash.

Now let’s move on to Dipking, a ranged Nefty that excels at dodging attacks. With its passive ability, Dipking can dodge every fourth direct attack, making it a tricky opponent to take down. Ether Blast, Dipking’s first special ability, unleashes its highest-damage dealing attack. While Tank Blast can deal damage proportionate to the enemy’s HP, Ether Blast only costs one more hype point and inflicts around 50 more damage, making it the better choice. Dipking’s Dodge move lets it avoid direct attacks, while its ultimate ability, Combo Breaker, damages all Nefties in the next two tiles beside Dipking. Dipking’s preferred moves in most battles are Ether Blast and Dodge, as they deal significant damage and enable it to dodge attacks. However, Combo Breaker comes in handy when enemies are in range and low on health.

Next is, Unika, the majestic unicorn-style Nefty with unparalleled mobility that leaves opponents quaking in fear. Its passive ability sets up an inspire field that can jumpstart another Nefty’s turn, giving Unika a significant tactical advantage. With Rainbow Flash as its first special ability, Unika dashes across five tiles, dealing damage to all Nefties in its path. Come & Play, its second ability, propels Unika forward, dealing damage and tossing any unsuspecting Nefties over its head. Kickback, Unika’s third ability, kicks an enemy Nefty behind it, creating some much-needed distance. And when it comes to its ultimate ability, Encore, Unika can reuse its last ability with a 25% damage boost. Unika’s Come & Play and Encore are the most popular choices among skilled players, as they can wreak havoc while being relatively low on hype points.

And then there’s Shiba Ignite, the beloved pup with a passive ability that feeds off allies’ dwindling health to fuel its frenzy. Its first special ability, Shout Born, can knock back foes three tiles away, creating chaos and creating space between Shiba and its opponents. Bodyguard, the second ability, not only stops an enemy attack but also deals damage to the attacker, making it a lethal move in Shiba’s arsenal. Ground Control, the third ability, grants Shiba the ability to leap anywhere within a 3×3 radius, giving it unprecedented mobility on the battlefield. As for its ultimate ability, Big Bark, Shiba can send enemy Nefties flying three tiles away while nudging allies just one tile, making it an invaluable tool in critical situations. Bodyguard and Shout Born are the favourite abilities among seasoned Shiba users, as they can turn the tide of battle in Shiba’s favour.

Block Choy, the dedicated healer in Aurory Tactics. Its passive ability creates a healing tile in all adjacent tiles, making it an essential asset to any team. Its first special ability, Life Force, allows Block Choy to heal an ally Nefty by sacrificing some of its own health. Appease Feelings, the second ability, reduces an enemy’s hype points by three and their attack and defense stats, making it a useful move in debilitating the opposition. Roots Embrace, the third ability, immobilizes opponents for a turn while boosting their defense, making it a great defensive tool. And when it comes to its ultimate ability, Vitagreens, Block Choy can heal the entire team and boost allies’ Initiative, moving them up the timeline. With Life Force and Vitagreens, Block Choy is a highly effective healer that can turn the tide of battle in its team’s favour.

Number 9 is the dreaded phantom haunting the neighbourhood, with a passive ability that marks its enemies for possession. This ghoul must maneuver through the opposition to execute basic attacks and unleash special abilities. Scarring Strike reduces the defense of an enemy while slowing it down to one tile. Pulltergeist drags an enemy toward Number 9 by four tiles, leaving it vulnerable for follow-up attacks. Soul Conduit is a teleportation move that grants Number 9 supreme mobility. However, when Number 9 lands on a tile where a Nefty has fallen, it can cast a special ability and move again. The ultimate ability, Jumpscare, is a terrifying move that stuns and damages every marked Nefty next to Number 9, simultaneously healing itself. Jumpscare is a great finisher when Number 9 is low on health, and the enemy Nefties are bunched up.

Enter Zzoo, the avian warrior of Aurory, with unmatched aerial agility and ferocious attacks. Zzoo’s passive ability inflicts damage to any enemy located next to it when attacked. Attack & Back is Zzoo’s first ability, allowing it to strike an enemy and immediately retreat four tiles behind them. Sharp Gust is the second ability, blowing a gust of wind in one direction for four tiles, mildly stunning and pushing back enemies. The Overtake ability is a nimble dodge that helps Zzoo avoid the next physical attack, allowing it to fly over the enemy’s heads and attack on its next turn. Zzoo’s ultimate ability, Sky Drop, launches the bird high into the sky before crashing down onto a designated tile. Sky Drop let’s Zzoo move and attack again, making it an incredible gap-closer.

In Aurory, every Nefty has six distinct stats that have diverse effects on gameplay, as previously noted. Health Points (HP) are self-explanatory and essential for all Nefties, particularly tanks like Dinobit. Attack influences the damage inflicted by basic attacks and physical special abilities, making it an essential stat for Nefties like Bitebit, Unika, and Dipking. Initiative is a vital stat for all Nefties, determining how quickly they can take another turn. Defense is necessary for all Nefties to reduce physical damage, especially Tanks like Dinobit and Shiba Ignite. Ether Attack boosts the effectiveness of magical attacks like Ether blast and Pressure bomb, making it critical for Nefties like Dipking, Axobubble, and Number 9. Finally, Ether Defense determines the amount of damage magical attacks can inflict on a Nefty, which is particularly useful for Tanks like Dinobit and Shiba Ignite against teams with Nefties like Dipking, Axobubble, and Number 9.
