DeRace Review: Everything You Need to Know Before Galloping Across the Track

DeRace, the innovative blockchain-based game on the Polygon network, is the perfect combination of cutting-edge technology and real-world horse racing. DeRace is a decentralized platform that allows players to own virtual racehorses in the form of NFTs and compete in races for actual prizes.

To participate in DeRace, players must have an NFT horse and the game’s native currency, $DERC. Each NFT horse possesses unique traits that influence its rarity, performance, breeding ability, and value. The horses can be bred to produce new NFT foals, which inherit a combination of their parents’ traits.

$DERC is an ERC-20 token that can be traded on Ethereum, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain networks. In DeRace, $DERC is used to pay for race entry fees and breeding costs. The token has additional use cases that will be introduced as the platform evolves.

To start racing, players must deposit their NFT horse and $DERC into the platform via the wallet tab on DeRace.com. They can then browse the available races in the ‘Race’ section, where details such as surface type, distance, entry fee, prize pool, race start time, and number of horses entered are available.

DeRace currently has three track types available: Greenfield (Dirt), Paradise Hills (Synthetic), and Emerald Gardens (Turf). Each track has a unique surface type that affects a horse’s performance. Players can determine the best track and distance for their horse by running it on various surfaces and distances to gauge its performance. It is recommended that players test their horse in at least ten races per track/distance for accurate insights.

While natural ability is essential, hidden parameters within each NFT horse, such as speed, stamina, reaction time, and other potential abilities, can have a significant impact on its performance. All races use Random Number Generation (RNG) technology to ensure fairness, randomness, and transparency, so even the best natural ability doesn’t guarantee a win.

Breeding in DeRace involves pairing a male horse (stallion) with a female horse (mare). Currently, only Gen0 horses can breed. When two Gen0 horses breed, the resulting NFT horse will be one generation below the parents (i.e., a Gen1 foal). The new horse’s attributes will be a combination of both parents, determined by a genetic algorithm with a +/- 5% deviation using randomness from Chainlink’s VRF integration.

Breeding costs include a $50 DERC fee and a Liquid Love NFT. Players can obtain the Liquid Love NFT through single-sided staking on the DeRace platform or by purchasing it on marketplaces like OpenSea.

DeRace also has a built-in function that allows players to rent a horse from another owner specifically for breeding purposes. Each horse has a random cooldown period after breeding. Both horses must have a cooldown of zero to enable breeding. Once the cooldown period is over, players can repeat the breeding process to produce new NFT foals.

Overall, DeRace is an exhilarating and captivating horse racing game on the Polygon blockchain that has garnered the gaze of both blockchain enthusiasts and avid horse racing fans alike. With its exclusive gameplay and NFT horses, DeRace is an enticing game that provides players with the opportunity to experience the rush of horse racing and reap lucrative rewards, all while immersing themselves in the world of blockchain technology. Personally, I believe that DeRace is a prime illustration of how blockchain can completely transform the gaming industry and present novel prospects for players.
